World Series Final Game Draws 51 Million Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japan Markets.

The thrilling extended clash that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a total 51M spectators across the US, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball announced this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday epic contest averaged over 27 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a 16% improvement over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language program in the country after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-match series drew 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience increases for two straight years.

Counting the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete American average reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09M viewers, an 8% increase compared to last year and the network’s best postseason ratings after 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
