It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
