One two-month cruise through the Land Down Under has been cancelled days after the fatal incident of an older woman who was abandoned by the vessel on a isolated island.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the tropical location with shipmates from the vessel, but separated from the group for a pause. The liner departed without her and went back after some time after the ship staff realised the lady was not present.

A large-scale search operation located her person the next day.

Officials are looking into the incident, alongside law enforcement and the official investigator.

Head of the shipping company stated that passengers and staff on the ship were told that the remainder of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "tragic passing and previous engine troubles".

In a statement, he added that travelers would be issued a total repayment, and said the company was working "to coordinate the return journeys of the travelers via specially arranged planes".
