Approximately 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast found themselves experiencing outages on the start of the week after intense storm systems passed over the region, producing powerful gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.

Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Destruction

Homeowners observed large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along significant areas of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was predicted as the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both areas.

Safety Concern

Health officials warned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
